The 42nd annual Los Altos Arts & Wine Festival is scheduled Sept. 25 and 26 in downtown Los Altos.
What began in 1979 as a much smaller version of the current event, the festival has now grown to include more than 300 crafts and arts booths, two food courts and three stages of live entertainment.
The Los Altos Village Association (LAVA), a not-for-profit organization founded in the early 1960s by merchants and property owners, sponsors the festival.
Funds raised at the festival are used for events and programs promoting downtown businesses and LAVA’s downtown beautification efforts, including decorative plantings, colorful banners and twinkle lights that fill more than 250 trees along Main and State streets and in the adjacent parking plazas.
Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Organizers ask that attendees leave their pets at home.
