The Los Altos Planning Comission at its Jan. 18 meeting recommended approval – with extensive conditions – of a three-story, 16,275-square-foot office building at 40 Main St. proposed by applicants Ted and Jerry Sorensen.
Among the conditions in recommended approval is a reduction in the mass and bulk of the third story “in an appreciable manner,” which would reduce the Sorensens’ parking deficit from a cited 28 spaces to 15 spaces.
The commission also recommended the Sorensens work with Ron and Von Packard, owners of an office building next door to the proposed project, to achieve a more compatible look between the two buildings.
The commission’s recommendation goes to the Los Altos City Council for final approval. Ron Packard, who is a councilmember, has to recuse himself from voting on the project.
