March 18, 1944- March 7, 2026

Ying Par Love passed away peacefully in her Los Altos home on March 7, 2026 after battling cancer for the past five years.

Born in China on March 18, 1944, Ying was the oldest of five siblings. At the age of 6, her family fled communist rule and ultimately settled in Thailand where she grew up.

Ying was the first in her family to immigrate to the United States where she attended college in North Carolina. After receiving her undergraduate degree, she received a scholarship to attend California State University Hayward to earn her Master’s Degree to further study economics and accounting. At California State University Hayward, she met her husband John, also a fellow graduate student. They married in 1973. Upon graduation, Ying was hired by General Motors where she worked at the NummiPlant in Fremont and was the only woman to work in their accounting and finance department at the time.

Ying and John moved to Los Altos in 1976 where they raised their two sons Andrew and Brian. Ying was heavily involved in the community volunteering at Loyola Elementary, Blach Middle, and Los Altos High School. In addition, she volunteered in many roles throughout her years, including as a Den Mother, Team Mom, and Math Olympics coordinator.

Ying was fluent in multiple languages and after she moved to California, she developed a passion for skiing that she passed down to future generations. She loved her Jeopardy show, playing Bridge with friends, and hiking. But more than anything, she loved spending time with her five grandchildren.

Ying was a breast cancer survivor in the early 1990s and advocate for cancer awareness. Ying is survived by her four siblings, husband John, two sons Andrew and Brian, and five grandchildren Jackson, Ani, Katie, Charles, and Derek.

The Love family will be hosting an intimate celebration of life to honor Ying’s life. It will be open to the public on Sunday April 12th to freely attend between 3:00 – 5:00 pm at the Neutra House in Los Altos located at 181 Hillview Ave.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any cancer research organization of your choosing.
