County tax assessor customer service

I recently received a supplemental property tax bill, which I didn’t understand (or appreciate). When I called the assessor’s office for info, the phone was picked up promptly and the person on the line was very helpful in explaining how supplemental tax bills are calculated after a remodel. When there was one number I didn’t understand, he offered to connect me with the assessor who did the bill.

I was very happy with the help I received; Larry Stone is proud of his commitment to customer service in the assessor’s office and I concur with this “assessment.”

Open an elementary school at San Antonio

Building an elementary school north of El Camino, where we have so many new students, is long overdue. Our current nine campuses (seven lower and two junior high) have 10 schools on them today – really 11 as Bullis Charter is two: both a lower and a junior high. Our district and parents value neighborhood schools and the growing area in the north needs a school so our young students don’t need help crossing El Camino.

The district learned long ago that closing an existing elementary school is not an option. And they need to reduce the crowding and traffic at their two junior high campuses. Since we have a public school without an elementary school campus – Bullis Charter School – and the district is obligated to provide facilities for the charter school, then Bullis should be the public school on the 10th site.

Let’s put a neighborhood school on the site. As a public school, the Bullis Charters staff are dedicated to educating all students that come through the doors – regardless of location. A permanent site should be a celebration by the charter school.
