To commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month, Los Altos High School’s Associated Student Body and Latino Student Union co-hosted a fair during lunch Thursday in the quad.

The festivities included Hispanic food and a mariachi band. Hundreds of students attended, sampling food and drinks such as pupusa, tinga and agua fresca while listening to the music.

“Remembering Hispanic Heritage Month is important for learning more about the culture of a huge demographic represented in the United States and especially the school,” Latino Student Union president Jocelyn Gatica Arellano said. “It’s something that LSU takes pride in, and I think it was really successful.”

The Latino Student Union was scheduled to host an activity-filled event called PURLA (Peace, Unity, Respect Los Altos) Day during brunch and lunch Monday as the Town Crier went to press.
