The Greater Los Angeles Wildfires Fund, administered by the Los Altos Mountain View Community Foundation (LAMVCF), has awarded a $10,000 grant to Pasadena Village to support its continued relief efforts for older adults impacted by the devastating Pasadena fires.
Pasadena Village, led by executive director Katie Brandon, is a vital nonprofit community of more than 220 adults aged 55-plus who support one another while living independently. In the wake of the recent wildfires, 90 members were evacuated, 21 lost everything and 40 remain unable to return home. This grant will help Pasadena Village provide critical peer-to-peer support, case management and essential resources to its members as they navigate recovery.
The grant will fund a case manager to coordinate outreach, ensuring every member receives ongoing check-ins and personalized support. This grassroots effort supplies essential goods like food, air purifiers and technology to navigate required forms; transportation assistance for medical visits and errands; gift cards to help meet urgent financial needs; and social connections, discussion groups and peer support.
“Pasadena Village embodies resilience and community,” said Crysta Krames, executive director at LAMVCF. “Their peer-led approach fosters dignity and connection for older adults, ensuring the needed shared resources and support through this time of crisis.”
