Los Altos History Museum is refreshing its Community Corner, a space within its permanent exhibition that celebrates the groups shaping the local community. The new display showcases artifacts and photographs from Los Altos organizations and clubs, both past and present.

“Since it’s called ‘The Community Corner,’ we wanted to highlight the clubs and organizations that make Los Altos unique,” said Sophia Abarca, curator of the exhibit and the museum’s collections. “These groups contribute in countless ways – whether by fundraising, beautifying our town, or helping with emergency response. They embody the heart of our community.”

From civic, youth and cultural organizations to special interest groups, the display includes the Garden Club of Los Altos – the city’s longest-running club; Federated Women’s Club; Friends of the Library; and GreenTown Los Altos.

“Through this installment, I hope visitors learn about the wide variety of active clubs and organizations Los Altos offers,” Abarca added. “It’s an invitation to join these groups, if they aren’t already members, and help ensure Los Altos continues to thrive. Community clubs and organizations foster collaboration, provide support networks, and empower individuals to address local needs, strengthening social ties and enhancing overall well-being.”

Visitors are encouraged to suggest additional clubs or organizations for future displays. Suggestions can be submitted via a QR code in the exhibit or emailed to [email protected].

The museum is open noon to 4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Admission is free. For more information, visit losaltoshistory.org.
