New, permanent outdoor dining spaces in downtown Los Altos, such as the one above, are ready for use.
“Most parklets are nearing completion, if not completed already,” said Anthony Carnesecca, assistant to the city manager for the city of Los Altos. The city is overseeing the program.
“We are currently assisting a small number of individual applicants with minor adjustments to their outdoor dining structures.”
In total, 11 parklets have been constructed in the downtown area. Restaurants will be charged an annual fee of $3 per square foot for the use of the parklet space and will be responsible for all ongoing maintenance and management, subject to annual city inspections.
“The feedback on the new parklets has been overwhelmingly positive, with residents and visitors alike expressing their appreciation for the enhanced aesthetics and safety of the outdoor dining spaces,” Carnesecca said. “The city is grateful for the collaborative efforts of the participating restaurants, which contributed to the success of this project.
“We believe these parklets will significantly enhance the vibrancy and appeal of the downtown area and are excited to see residents and visitors enjoy them.”
