Pink Ribbon Girls has scheduled its inaugural Bay Area Ignite the Fight fundraiser 6-10 p.m. Saturday at the historical Marini House at 220 University Ave., Los Altos.
PRG is a nonprofit organization that provides healthy meals, rides to treatment, housecleaning services, cancer education and peer support to breast and gynecological cancer patients and their families, independent of age, stage or socioeconomic status and free of charge.
In the Bay Area, PRG served nearly 15,000 meals and provided more than 1,900 rides to and from treatment from January through July this year. PRG’s meal and transportation service requests have increased more than 150% and clients served jumped more than 200% in 2021 compared to 2020, highlighting a need for services locally.
The evening is set to kick off with a social hour and a pre-dinner auction with drinks, followed by a catered dinner, dessert and live auction. The evening will highlight inspiring stories from PRG clients and supporters, who will discuss how the organization has impacted their lives. Santa Clara Supervisor Joe Simitian will speak at the event.
PRG is currently serving Bay Area clients between the ages 27 and 94, from backgrounds including Asian Pacific Islander, white, Hispanic/Latino and African American, among others.
“We’ve been providing services to the Bay Area since 2019 and are thrilled to be able to hold our inaugural Ignite the Fight event in 2021,” said Heather Salazar, Pink Ribbon Girls CEO. “We are so thankful for those who have supported us, especially through 2020, and look forward to celebrating our continued growth and success in the Bay during this event.”
Table sponsorships and individual tickets are available. All funds raised at the event directly support clients in the Bay Area.
