The public is welcome to a Community Health Forum 10-11 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 19) at the Terraces at Los Altos, 373 Pine Lane. The topic is, “Medicines: The Path from the Lab to your Medicine Cabinet.” The presenter is Sally Meadows, Los Altos resident and pharmaceutical industry expert.
Topics of discussion will include how medicines are selected and screened for development, the lengthy times required, and the laboratory, experimental and financial hurdles that medicines must overcome before obtaining approval.
Additional topics will include the benefits for patients, the health system, and the companies and institutions (public and private) which provide and pay for these medicines. Ample time will be reserved for questions from the public.
