The Los Altos-based Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District seeks local residents willing to serve four-year terms on an independent citizen oversight committee ensuring transparency and accountability in the use of Measure AA funds.
Measure AA is a $300 million bond approved by voters in June 2014. MROSD uses proceeds from the bonds – sold over the next 20-30 years – to preserve natural open space lands, create new public access opportunities and restore the natural environment.
There are three vacancies on the seven-member Measure AA Bond Oversight Committee, according to a press release issued by MROSD May 15. Local residents interested in joining the committee must apply before 5 p.m. June 1. Applicants must live within the boundaries of the district’s service area, which includes parts of Santa Clara, San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties. The MROSD Board of Directors will appoint the new committee members.
The committee convenes several times a year to review and provide feedback on MROSD’s use of Measure AA funds, the Measure AA expenditure plan and an annual Measure AA accountability report.
