Mountain View Fire Department crews extinguished a one-acre brush fire late Thursday. Dispatchers received multiple calls reporting sounds of an explosion and flames in the area of La Avenida and Space Park Way, across from the Microsoft campus. Crews responded to find vegetation on fire in an area under high voltage power lines, with multiple power lines down.
One resident of the mobile home park was transported to a local hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. No firefighter injuries were reported during the incident.
As of 1 a.m. Friday, PG&E crews were still working to determine the cause of the downed power lines and trying to restore power to the neighboring area. Parts of the Stevens Creek Trail near the area are closed due to the downed power lines in the area.
