And in a meeting Monday, hospital and union representatives failed to resolve how and when to validate and count the votes.
Hospital spokeswoman Judy Twitchell said that the state supervisor who monitored the election currently holds the ballots in question. He is expected to make a decision within the next two days on how the vote count will go forward.
“The hospital is affirming the authority of the mediator to make that decision,” she said.
Union representative Carlyn Foster reported that the SEIU has filed an unfair labor practice charge against the hospital for not tallying the results on election day as had been expected. The complaint alleges that hospital administrators “threatened and bullied” the state mediator to prevent him from proceeding with the vote count.
