As the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks approaches, the choral community, led by Schola Cantorum in partnership with the Office of Religious Education at Stanford University, has scheduled a musical tribute 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Stanford Memorial Church, 450 Serra Mall on the campus.

The 80-person Schola Cantorum chorus will join singers from choirs across the Bay Area to pay homage to those who lost their lives as well as those who administered aid during the national tragedy.

Local soloists, including soprano Christine Abraham, alto Malin Fritz Walrod, tenor Victor Floyd and baritone Jeffrey Fields, will perform. An orchestra with Robert Huw Morgan at the organ will accompany the musicians.

The public is invited to join in the singing of Mozart’s Requiem. The singers and orchestra will perform under the baton of Gregory Waits, Schola Cantorum’s conductor and music director.

The Rev. Scotty McLennan, dean for Religious Life at Stanford and chaplain of Stanford Memorial Church, will preside over the service, which will include the dean’s reflections and lighting of candles.

Admission is free and open to the public.
