A new visual imaging system purchased by the Friends of the Los Altos Library may open up a world of library materials for the vision impaired. The Versatile Image Processor (VIP) Reading System includes a computer, scanner and printer to provide the amount of magnification desired and/or automated voice.
The computer can be set up to meet the needs of each person. Any item that can be scanned into the computer can be available to users who cannot read from the library’s collection.
Bev and Bob Tobey, from the Friends of the Los Altos Library, will be coordinating the project. For more information, call the reference desk at 948-7048.
