In a week when the 30 Dow Jones Industrial stocks had one of the largest point moves in history, technical stocks continued to slide. The Dow Jones is up 21 percent for the year compared with 4.9 percent for the Town Crier Stock Average (TCSI), which consists primarily of technical stocks in Silicon Valley.

One of the stocks keeping the TCSI up is Cisco Systems. It is one of the top performers in the current bull market. The company is a leading supplier of computer networking products and enhanced its market position last year when it purchased STtrataCom Corp.

Earnings per share of Cisco Systems have grown at a 68 percent annual clip since 1992, and the balance sheet has a cash reserve of more than $1 billion and little debt. Earnings estimate expected at fiscal year (July 1) is $2.05 a share (In 1996, it was $1.38.). A lot of business and investment companies are looking closely at Cisco Systems and are recommending it as an aggressive investment.
